This is achieved through grants and initiatives, affordable housing, community development lending, investments, and our employees who volunteer their time and talents in each of the communities we serve.

Providing assistance to non-profit organizations

Community is at the center of all that we do at First Independent Bank. It's who we are, what we are, and why we are.

Community Alliance Account

First Independent Bank is pleased to offer the Community Alliance Account to non-profit organizations. The Community Alliance account offers three competitive options. Non-profit organizations may choose from one of the following account options:

  1. A Community Alliance Checking Account
  2. A Business NOW Checking with a premium interest rate
  3. A Community Alliance Money Market Account


Features include: No account maintenance fees or per item fees, no monthly online banking or bill pay fees, and no fee initial order of standard business checks.*

* Fees will apply for NSF’s, wires, stops payments, return items and any additional/special services.

Individual Development Account (IDA)

First Independent Bank's Individual Development Account (IDA) is a savings account for qualified individuals sponsored by participating non-profit organizations to assist in the purchase of a home, business or to finance post-secondary education. The IDA account is a no fee account and funds are typically matched by the participating non-profit organization.

Federal Home Loan Grants

First Independent Bank is a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco which allows the bank to have access to the Federal Home Loan Bank community investment grant programs. First Independent Bank has partnered with non-profits and the FHLB to provide grant funds to provide down payment assistance for low-to-moderate income families. Charitable Contributions

First Independent Bank's Charitable Contributions Programs supports 501(c)3 non-profit organizations that provide services and support in the low- or moderate-income areas.

Policies

First Independent Bank is dedicated to providing support and assistance to our community. The primary focus of our Bank's Charitable Contributions program is directed to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations that provide services and support in the low- or moderate-income areas. First Independent Bank primarily focuses on organizations and programs that provide:

  • Affordable Housing for low- or moderate-income individuals
  • Community services targeted to low- or moderate-income individuals
  • Education for low-income and at-risk students
  • Economic Development
  • Revitalization or stabilization of low or moderate-income areas
  • Human Services
  • Cultural and Artistic Enrichment in under served communities

Community Development Lending

Our Community Lending efforts assist for-profit and not-for-profit developers of multifamily affordable housing. Through competitively priced products such as our construction-to-permanent loan product and letter of credit enhancement products, Community Lending helps to ensure that developers have a vehicle to produce affordable rental housing with sustained long-term affordability in and throughout the neighborhoods and communities where we do business.
